Exhibition: March 24 – April 8, 2018

The Riverside Art Museum, in partnership with the Riverside Latino Network in celebration of Cesar Chavez Week, will exhibit 10 posters from the movement in the 1960s through the 1980s by United Farm Workers (UFW), an organization founded primarily by Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta to improve the deplorable wages and working conditions that many migrant farm workers experienced in California fields.

These posters represent important campaigns and events from the early history of the UFW, e.g., the grape and lettuce strikes of the late 1960s and early 1970s, and the boycott campaigns that followed. The posters showcase the graphic compositions of a variety of artists and illustrators, and chronicle the work of Chavez and hundreds of others who worked tirelessly to champion the cause of justice for farm workers.
