Bloomberg FAQs
Bloomberg Connects is our free guide offering guides to hundreds of cultural institutions from around the world. You can use it on-site to enhance your visit, or explore different museums, gardens, historic houses, public art, sculpture parks, and more from wherever you are.
Visitors can use Bloomberg Connects while on-site, or explore the content from anywhere, at any time. If your organization is using lookup numbers, enter the numbers you see next to various works into the “lookup” section for more information about that work, or simply use the map to explore what’s on view. You can also explore more about our favorite works or any of the other institutions on the platform after your visit.
You can access our guide by scanning a QR code, which will take you to a mobile browser version of our guide. If you want to download the app, there will be a prompt at the bottom of the mobile browser version to do so. The app is available on iOS and Android devices. Search “Bloomberg Connects” in the App Store or in Google Play. For more information, visit bloombergconnects.org
How much does it cost to download?
Bloomberg Connects is free to download and use. You are also not required to download the app to access our content.
How does it work?
First, join our free WiFi. You can access our guide by scanning a QR code. You’ll learn more about our organization, the works currently on display, and past exhibitions. As you explore our space, if you see a number next to an object/artwork enter the number into the “lookup” section of the app for more information about that work.
Will I be contacted because of downloading the app?
We will not send you any text messages or emails but may send you app notifications from time to time.
How big is the app? I don’t want to use up all the space on my phone.
The app is relatively small, roughly 15MB for iOS (iPhone) and 24MB for Android. The individual guides within the app vary in size, but individual guide content will be automatically removed from your phone a week after last use to avoid taking up space.
You are also not required to download the app to access content – and the mobile browser experience won’t take up any space on your phone!
I thought I was getting an app specific to this museum. What is Bloomberg Connects?
Bloomberg Connects allows you to explore the guides of many cultural organizations on a single platform.
Can I listen to this at home?
Of course! The guide is designed to be useful and interesting both on- and off-site.
Can I make the audio faster?
Yes you can increase the speed of the audio by clicking the “1x” next to the play button in any audio track that you listen to.
When will more museums be added?
We are continuously adding cultural institutions to the app. Check the Explore Screen or bloombergconnects.org for the latest list!
I would like to remove the app from my phone.
We’re sorry that you want to remove the app. You can delete it like any other app, but, of course, we’d love to encourage you to keep it for your next visit here or to another institution. If you’re worried about the app taking up too much storage space on your phone, you can delete downloaded guides by tapping the Settings icon (gear at the upper right corner of the Explore screen) and then tapping “Delete all Downloaded Guides.”
I only want this museum, is there a way to get rid of the others?
Bloomberg Connects was created to present content from many cultural institutions in a single app, and we hope you will explore several! However, only the content of the individual guide(s) that you’ve downloaded is actually on your phone, and this content will automatically be deleted after 7 days when using the app’s default settings. If you did not download the app during your experience, then you have only access the content from one organization.
Are you collecting my personal data with the app?
We are not collecting any personally identifiable data. We collect analytics on how people use the app in order to make improvements, but we do not know anything about the users themselves. For more information, you can tap on Settings (gear icon), then view the Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Analytics information. You also have the ability to opt-out of analytics.
Does this app support accessibility needs? Which ones?
The app is designed to exceed accessibility standards and is able to work with most assistive technology on both Android and iOS phones, including screen readers, zoom, and increased contrast. It is also compatible with keyboard or switch control navigation. Text content can be viewed at larger sizes. The audio player supports transcripts, while the video player supports subtitles/captions, transcripts, and audio descriptions. The app also supports Color Inversion and every screen is usable in portrait or landscape orientation.
Is Bloomberg Connects available in other languages?
Content is available in over 40 languages through our Google Translate integration. Some organizations offer human translated content for specific languages in their guide, which is noted within their guides. All Google Translated content is noted as such.
I don’t know my Apple ID. Is there any other way I can access this content?
You do not need to download Bloomberg Connects to access content – if you scan a QR code you can access all of our content through the mobile browser version of our guide.
If you do want to download the app, to recover your Apple ID, you can follow these steps:
1.Go to Settings.
2.Tap [your name] > Password & Security > Change Password.
3.Follow the onscreen steps to update your password.
Alternatively, the content is accessible from anywhere, anytime so you can download
the app when you get home or are able to retrieve your password.
Why isn’t the QR code working? My camera is just taking a photo of the symbol.
While many phones read QR codes automatically, others require the settings to be changed.
To download the app another way, you can go to the App Store/Google Play, search for Bloomberg Connects, then download the app.
I don’t have headphones. Can I listen through the earpiece on my phone?
You can listen on your phone, but please be respectful to the other visitors by keeping the volume at an appropriate level.
Why don’t I see the app when I search in the App Store or on Google Play?
This could be because our app isn’t compatible with your device. In order to be downloadable
to your device, your phone must be running iOS 13.6 and above (iPhones) or Android 6 and above.
