Contemporary Relics: A Tribute to the Makers by glass sculptor Jaime Guerrero gives us a glimpse into early Mesoamerican life and art. This exhibition demonstrates Guerrero’s skills and ability to shape molten glass in the likeness of stone as it was used by craftsmen from the Olmec, Nayarit, Chupícuaro, and Tlatilco cultures.

Guerrero states, “I believe that these objects can transmit valuable knowledge about the first cultures of this continent. They offer insights to the world view and belief system of our Mesoamerican ancestors.”

By recreating the original works of ancient masters, Guerrero believes it gives him a better understanding of who he is and where he comes from. It is research through process, allowing  him to reconnect to a Pre-Colonial past as an act of solidarity to the first sculptors of the Americas.
