Class Descriptions

Mastering the Line (Ages 5–9)
Explore the power of a single stroke, experimenting with lines that twist, curve, and communicate motion. Through playful exercise and guided practice, students learn how lines can shape ideas, build forms, and bring drawings to life. 

Plein Air Painting (Ages 10+) 

This class invites teens to step outside the studio and into the world, using the outdoors as their creative playground. Each session encourages slowing down, looking closely, and translating the energy of a place onto the page. Teens will experiment with composition, quick studies, and longer pieces, all while developing confidence in their own artistic voice. Whether they’re sketching city streets, quiet gardens, or wide‑open landscapes, this class offers a chance to connect with nature, build skills, and create art in the moment. 

Afternoon Classes 

Art Safari (Ages 5–9) 
We take young artists on a creative adventure through the animal kingdom as they paint, draw, and craft wild creatures and vibrant habitats.  Kids explore fun techniques while bringing their favorite animals to life with color and imagination. 

Waves of Color (Ages 10+) 
Young artists dive into painting through bold brushwork and playful color exploration, learning to blend, layer, and create movement as they bring vibrant ideas to life.

Morning Classes

Forts and Secret Hideaways (Ages 5–9) 
Use various materials to create a secret hideaway. Let your creativity expand beyond the canvas as you combine architecture, painting, sculpture, and more to create a one-of-a-kind experience for all those who enter. 

Procreate (Ages 13+ TEEN) 
In this Procreate class, aspiring digital artists learn how to use the Procreate app on an iPad to create stunning artwork. They explore digital drawing and painting techniques, including layering, blending, and using various brushes and tools. The class provides step-by-step guidance and encourages experimentation, allowing students to unleash their creativity and develop their own unique style.  Whether they’re interested in drawing, painting, or digital illustration, this class offers a fun and engaging way for students to explore their artistic talents in the digital realm. (In this class students will use ipads provided by RAM. If students have their own, they are welcome to bring them.)

Exhibition Explorations (Ages 10+)  
An interactive and immersive experience where students have the opportunity to visit the art galleries and explore various artworks at both RAM and The Cheech.  Students will learn about different art movements, architecture, styles and techniques by observing and analyzing artworks firsthand. 

Afternoon Classes 

Anime Experience (Ages 5–9) 
Introduces young artists to the fun world of anime through easy character drawing, expressive faces, and bold, playful styles.  Kids learn step-by-step techniques while creating their own colorful anime characters and stories. 

Anime Creators (Ages 10+) 
Gives growing artists a chance to dive into anime style through character design, dynamic poses, expressive features, and bold stylization.  Students learn step-by-step techniques while developing their own original characters and unique anime-inspired artwork.

Cartoon Craze (Ages 5–9)  
Young artists will have fun drawing lively characters, bold expressions, and playful scenes, learning simple cartooning techniques while creating their own colorful, imaginative world. 

Cartoon Creators  (Ages 10–15) 
Have fun developing original characters, expressive poses, and dynamic scenes.  Students learn cartooning techniques that help them bring humor, action, and personality to their drawing.

Forts and Secret Hideaways (Ages 10–13) 
Design and build an immersive secret hideaway using a wide range of materials. Push your creativity beyond traditional art as you blend elements of architecture, painting, sculpture, and mixed‑media design to construct a unique space that invites exploration and sparks imagination for anyone who steps inside.

Paint-tastic (Ages 5–9) 

This class takes young artists on a colorful adventure as they play with bold brushstrokes, bright paints, and imaginative ideas.  Kids explore fun techniques and create vibrant masterpieces that celebrate creativity and joy. 

Yarn Artistry (Ages 10+)  
In this class, older kids explore creative techniques like weaving, wrapping, stitching, and sculpting with fiber.  Students transform yarn into bold patterns, textured designs, and unique handmade creations while expanding their artistic skills.

Morning Classes 

Art in Motion: Paint, Twist, Sculpt  (Ages 5–9) 
Explore art through movement and hands-on play. Students get to paint with energy, twist materials into fun shapes, and sculpt imaginative creations while discovering how motion can spark creativity.

Mastering the Line (Ages 10+) 
In this class, older kids can sharpen their drawing skills through focused line work — from clean contours to expressive strokes. Learn how purposeful lines can shape forms, add energy, and bring ideas to life on the page. 

Art History Exploration (10+)  

Explore different art movements throughout history! From prehistoric -contemporary. Students will be inspired by new and old artists and create art with different mediums.

Afternoon Classes 

Art Rebels: Create Outside the Lines (Ages 5–9)
Break the rules, try bold ideas, and experiment with unexpected materials. This class celebrates creativity, confidence, and expressive, anything-goes art making. 

Creative Engineer (Ages 10+)
Kids explore art through building, designing, and hands‑on making. They sketch ideas, experiment with materials, and create imaginative structures while learning to solve problems like artists and inventors. Students will use cardboard, wood, wire, and recycled materials to make sculptures, inventions, and contraptions.

Fantasy: Showcasing Your Imagination (Ages 5–9) 
We invite young artists into a world of dragons, fairies, castles, and magical creatures.  Kids use playful materials and simple techniques to bring their wildest imaginations to life through colorful, story-filled art.

Procreate (Ages 8-12) 
Young artists get a playful introduction to digital drawing using Procreate on the iPad. Through simple tools, fun prompts, and step‑by‑step exploration, kids learn how to sketch, color, layer, and add special effects to their artwork. Each session encourages creativity and confidence as students experiment with brushes, stamps, textures, and animation features designed for beginners. The focus is on discovery and imagination, helping kids bring their ideas to life in a bright, modern art medium. Street Art Kids (Ages 10+) 

Young artists explore the bold, graphic world of street‑inspired art using kid‑friendly materials and techniques. The class focuses on creativity, style, and personal voice as students learn how artists use public art to make a statement. It’s energetic, playful, and all about making big art with big personality.

Forest of Fun Art  (Ages 5–9)
Explore a magical woodland world while creating animals, trees, and enchanted forest scenes.  Students explore a variety of art materials and techniques as they create peaceful, nature-themed artwork.

Urban Artistry (Ages 10+)
This class lets older kids explore bold, city-inspired art through graphic lettering, dynamic shapes, and modern mixed-media techniques. Students can experiment with street-art styles and creative expression while designing eye-catching, contemporary artwork.

We invite young artists to squish, shape, and explore as they create fun characters, creatures, and imaginative designs.  Kids learn simple clay techniques while enjoying hands-on, creative play that brings their ideas to life.

Experiment with sculpting, carving, and building techniques while creating unique clay pieces. Students develop skill and confidence as they design imaginative forms and bring detailed creations to life.

Sketch and Shading: Drawing for Teens (Ages 13+)
Get ready to level-up your art skills. In this class, you’ll learn how to sketch with confidence, build strong foundations, and bring your drawings to life using shading techniques that add depth and dimension. We’ll explore different pencils, practice cool shading styles, and create artwork that actually looks 3D. Whether you’re a total beginner or already love to draw, this class helps you sharpen your skills and develop your own style.

Paint the Sky (Ages 5–9) 

We invite young artists to explore skies, sunsets, and swirling atmospheres as they learn blending, color mixing, and expressive brushwork to create dreamy, vibrant scenes.

Creative Collage (Ages 10+) 

Experiment with cutting, layering, and arranging different materials to create striking mixed-media artwork.  Students explore composition, texture, and personal style as they transform everyday pieces into imaginative, one-of-a-kind designs.

Mini Masterpieces (Ages 5–9) 

Explore color, shape, and simple techniques through fun, small scale projects.  Kids build confidence and have a blast creating small works of art that show off their growing creativity and confidence.

Oil Pastels Explorations (Ages 10+) 
Dive into the vibrant, buttery world of oil pastels as they blend, smudge, and layer bold colors.  Students learn exciting techniques to make their artwork pop while creating eye-catching pieces they’ll be proud to show off. 

The Art of Photography (10+) Sarah
A creative, hands‑on class for groups of 10+ students to learn camera basics, composition, lighting, and visual storytelling. Through guided lessons and shooting activities outside and around the museum, students build technical skills, explore their artistic style, and create a small portfolio by the end of the course.

Afternoon Classes 

Doodle Dash (Ages 5–9) 

Kids strengthen their drawing skills through quick sketching, playful linework, and imaginative practice.  Each doodle builds creativity and control in a fun way. 

Wild Color Workshop (Ages 10+) 

This class takes inspiration from nature’s bold patterns and hues, guiding young artists as they experiment with color mixing, texture, and expressive painting to create vibrant, nature-inspired artwork.

Space Adventures (Ages 5–9)
Explore the next frontier: discover planets, marvel at different galaxies, befriend new lifeforms and much more through art! Students learn about space and have the opportunity to dive deep into their imagination to create their art works. 

Surrealism Art Week! (Ages 8-12) 

Investigate the bizarre works of Salvador Dali’s melting clocks, and Hannah Hoch’s human monsters.  Create and paint whimsical creatures and design your own surrealist collages. Question the definition of art, while pushing the boundaries of artistic self-expression.

Printmaking Playground (Ages 10+) 
Dive deeper into the art of printmaking, exploring techniques like foam carving, layered prints, stencils, and pattern design. Experiment with composition, color choices, and creative textures to produce bold, expressive prints. This class encourages problem‑solving and artistic independence while giving students the freedom to develop their own style through hands‑on, process‑driven projects.

Afternoon Classes 

Science Fiction Art (Ages 5–9) 
A class that sparks big imaginations as kids dream-up aliens, robots, futuristic cities, and cosmic worlds.  Students explore creative drawing and design techniques while building their own sci-fi characters and adventures — perfect for young visionaries who love imagining the future.

The World Cultures through Art (10+) 

Explore art from around the world using a variety of mediums. We will view art from a new country daily and respond with our own art.

Afternoon Classes 

Botanical Art Lab (Ages 6+) 
Kids use leaves, flowers, and natural textures to inspire drawings, prints, and mixed‑media art. They explore organic shapes, color, and pattern while creating nature‑inspired artwork with a creative, hands‑on approach. 

 

Paper Craft Lab (Ages 10+) 

Kids explore the endless possibilities of paper through folding, cutting, sculpting, and pop‑up techniques. They experiment with shapes, textures, and simple engineering to create playful 3D artworks, cards, and imaginative paper constructions. Celebrates the creative bond between toddlers and their adults. Each pair discovers art side by side, blending a child’s curiosity with gentle adult support. The focus is on shared moments—wonder, mess, laughter—not perfect technique. Parents follow their toddler’s lead, letting spontaneous marks and choices shape the work, while adults offer materials and add subtle contributions. The final piece becomes a visual conversation between two artists at different stages of life. Through color, movement, and play, the project honors the joy and beauty of creating together.

Join us as we explore the multiple uses of clay in this exciting class! Students will learn to create various projects with air-dry clay and even learn some new techniques along the way.

Cartoon Fantasy
Cartoons have entertained us for years, through their fun designs and way of being. This class will explore the art of cartoons throughout the years, where students will create their own original character and works of art.

Space Artventures
In this class, students will be transported to far away galaxies, planets and stars to create unique artworks. From painting to sculpting, students will have a blast while also learning new art techniques.

Progressive Procreate- Level 1
Learn the essentials of digital illustration using Procreate on the iPad. This beginner-friendly class introduces you to the Procreate interface, basic tools, layers, brushes, color selection, and simple workflows. Through guided exercises, you’ll create your first finished digital artwork while building confidence with core techniques. 

February 12th- March 12th
Progressive Procreate- Level 2
Take your Procreate skills to the next level in this intermediate class designed for students who are comfortable with the basics. We’ll dive deeper into advanced layer functions, blending modes, color harmony, and workflow strategies. Students will complete more complex projects while learning techniques for shading, lighting, textures, and refining their digital illustrations. This course is ideal for anyone looking to expand their digital art toolkit and develop a more polished, professional look.

March 19th- April 23rd (No Class March 26th)
Mixed Media Journaling
Discover the magic of mixing paint, collage, drawing, and texture as you create expressive pages in your personal art journal. This class introduces a variety of materials and techniques—such as acrylics, stencils, collage elements, and mark-making—to help you develop your own visual voice. With guided prompts and plenty of creative freedom, you’ll learn how to build rich, layered pages that reflect your thoughts, stories, and imagination.

April 30th- May 29th
Spring Sculptures
Welcome the season of renewal through hands-on sculpture! In this class, students explore a variety of materials—such as clay, wire, paper, natural elements, and mixed media—to create spring-inspired artworks. Learn techniques for shaping, assembling, and finishing while sculpting flowers, insects, animals, abstract forms, and more. Perfect for anyone who wants to bring the beauty and energy of spring to life in three dimensions.

In this series of “Homeschool” classes, students will have the opportunity to build their art skills across five sessions that explore Wild wonders: Animal Inspired Art. Every week, students can experiment with a range of tools and materials, experience the fun of making art, and express themselves as they create individual art pieces of their own!

Saturday Afternoon Class

October 11 and 18th, 2025 from 12:30 – 3:00 [Ages 5-12]

Spooky and Creative Art Fun is the perfect art class to celebrate October!  Kids will dive into Halloween-themed projects like crafting creative haunted house collages and designing creepy monster masks.  They’ll also experiment with fun techniques, like making marbled “Ghostly” prints or clay witch hats.  This class is all about creativity, a little spookiness, and a lot of festive fun!

 

December 6, and 13th, 2025 from 12:30 – 3:00pm

Holiday Art Extravaganza is a fun and festive art class designed to celebrate the holiday season.  Kids will create holiday-themed projects like decorating ornaments, painting snowy winter scenes and creating personalized holiday cards and even creating their own sparkling snowflakes.  This class is packed with creativity, holiday cheer and lots of hands-on fun to get everyone in the holiday spirit!

Animal Kingdom: Kids will create artwork inspired by their favorite animals, such as animal masks, clay animal sculptures, or paintings of animals in their habitats. (5-9)

 

Anime Art: Ready to bring your favorite anime characters to life?  In this Anime Art class, you’ll learn to draw and design your own manga-inspired masterpieces!  From creating expressive eyes to mastering dynamic poses, we’ll dive into the exciting world of anime art.  Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, you’ll get step-by-step guidance to develop your skills, explore unique character designs, and unleash your creativity.  Get ready for a fun-filled, action-packed workshop where you can create your own anime world. Cancellation Policy

Should you need to cancel your registration, a request must be submitted in writing and received one week prior to the start of class. A 15% fee is retained for cancellation by enrollee. No exceptions. *We require a minimum number of students to hold a class. In case of cancellation, parents will be notified through given contact information.

Scholarships are available from the following funds: Dottie Smith Scholarship Fund, Littleworth Scholarship Fund, Dorothy Blunden Scholarship Fund, Jacqueline M. Smith Memorial Fund, and Art Alliance Scholarship Fund.

Ages 5–12 

1 Kit: $90 (RAM Family level members and above: $81) 

Includes five art lessons per kit, all necessary supplies for those lessons, and shipping! 

Kickstart your creativity with these take-home kits! Each kit has a different theme: Animals, Art Around the World, Oceans of Fun, Desert, and Winter. Inside the kit are five art lessons specifically focused on the chosen theme. All necessary supplies are included!
