Riverside Art Museum: February 7 – July 5, 2026
The Cheech: February 7 – September 6, 2026
Chicano Camera Culture: A Photographic History, 1966–2026 marks the first time an exhibition will span both locations of the Riverside Art Museum. In addition to the galleries dedicated to the exhibition at The Cheech, RAM’s Julia Morgan building features the section The Archive, spotlighting four artists whose works explore personal and collective memory through innovative archival practices.
The Archive features multigenerational portraits of Chicanx artists by Oscar R. Castillo; sculptural garments by Annie Lopez made from tamale husks imprinted with family photos; photographs and a cabinet installation by Daniel Ramos honoring the cultural weight of family photographs; and an installation by Guadalupe Rosales reflecting on East L.A. memoryscapes. Together, these artists challenge traditional institutional archives and reimagine whose histories are preserved.
