Artist Statement

I’ve been an abstract painter since I picked up a brush. This body of work is all about my fascination with the way people live. When I am in an airplane looking down at the landscape there is an intense curiosity about the places people live. When they live in the middle of the country, on farmland, I wonder about how they got there and what they are doing at the moment we fly over. I start with one of these impressions in my head and balance the painting with light and dark shapes. There is something about the abstract work that appeals to the logical side of me.

My signature touch is the collage papers I add. The pattern holds great appeal for me.
