Join us for a weekend of art, poetry, and remembrance as we honor Día de los Muertos through creative workshops, storytelling, and community reflection. All ages are welcome, and materials are provided free of charge.
Activity #1: Monarch Crafts & Storytime with (@almarosaazul)

Join local poet @almarosaazul in the Education Classroom for Monarch crafts and storytime. We will be discussing the monarch butterfly and the way it relates to Dia de los muertos, migration, and culture
Activity #2: Papel Picado Workshop with UCR GLUCK Fellows Jo & Nico (@rio.junto)

Join artists Jo & Nico @rio.junto from the UCR GLUCK Fellows Program for a hands-on workshop in traditional papel picado—the colorful, intricate paper banners that decorate ofrendas and community altars. Participants can contribute their creations to the museum’s community altar or take them home as keepsakes.

Community Altar (Ofrenda)
Open: Saturday & Sunday, November 1–2 from 12-5pm
Location: Sala Jose Medina
Visitors are invited to bring printed photocopies of loved ones to place on the museum’s community altar, honoring those who have passed.
If you don’t have images to bring, join us on Sunday 11/2 for a special art activity where you can create a meaningful artwork to add to the ofrenda.
