@ Riverside Art Museum

EXHIBITION ON VIEW: March 13, 2027 – September 5, 2027

Location: Members Gallery

Fine artist and Riverside resident Maurice Howard have been a member of Inland Empire’s art community for over 20 years. His practice centers on intricate surrealist illustrations, channeling personal memories and stories into his work. His abstract compositions unfold through bold color, layered patterns, and rhythm, yet beneath their inventive surfaces lies a deeply spiritual inquiry. Spontaneous Innovations will feature his signature palm frond masks, and portraits from his Potato Head series as well as murals and paintings.

About the Artist

Maurice Howard is an artist born in Waco, Texas, who grew up in Southern California and has spent most of his life in Riverside, where he currently lives and works. He became inspired to paint at age 19, going on to attend several independent art schools before enrolling at Cal State Fullerton, where he majored in Fine Art studies. A longtime Eastside Riverside resident, Maurice has been making art since the 1950s and continues to work with the same enthusiasm he started with.
