DESCRIPTION:Riverside Art Museum invites artist members to submit works on paper for a juried group exhibition celebrating the creativity and diversity of artistic voices in our region.  \n\n\n\nExhibition Overview: \n\n\n\nThe exhibition will showcase outstanding examples of contemporary drawing\, printmaking\, collage and 2D works on paper created between 2020 and 2024. We are particularly interested in artworks that explore themes\, imagery or perspectives connected to the Inland Empire—its cities\, landscapes\, communities and\, if applicable\, the experiences of those living and working here. No 3D sculptural works will be accepted. \n\n\n\nEligible Artworks:  \n\n\n\nTwo-dimensional artworks in any style\, completed between 2020-2024 and using paper as the primary medium. This includes: drawings (pencil\, ink\, charcoal\, pastel\, etc.)\, prints (etchings\, lithographs\, screen prints\, etc.)\, collages and mixed media on paper\, hand-pulled prints and unique works\,  and photography and digital prints. \n\n\n\nArtists must be current museum members. Both emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply. There is no submission fee. Would like to participate but not currently a RAM member? Click here. \n\n\n\nTo submit your work for selection\, please email lhenry@riversideartmuseum.org  and provide the following: \n\n\n\n – Up to 5 images that represent the submitted work(s). He teaches English composition\, Literature\, and Creative Writing at Santa Ana College. He has also taught classes in Chicano Studies. He has also been a co-coordinator of the Puente Program for 25 years and has presented workshop sessions at both the regional and state level. He has also spoken at many motivational and educational conferences. He hosts and curates many artistic events that feature poetry and music at his campus or in the community. He is also a poet and writes about his barrio upbringing\, his community\, his culture\, and his Chicano identity. He has a self-published collection with three other Inland Empire poets\, Tacos de Lengua. His full length collection of poetry\, Touch the Sky\, was published in 2023 by El Martillo Press. He loves the outdoors and is inspired by music and books and other artistic expressions\, and his children\, Gabriel and Abigail. He was recently recognized as the Distinguished Faculty of the Year at Santa Ana College in 2024. His newest poetry collection Midnight & Mad Dreams is published by World Stage Press. You can find him attending poetry readings throughout California. He is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of El Martillo Press. Romero is the author of My Name Is Romero (FlowerSong Press\, 2020)\, Diamond Bars 2 (Moon Tide Press\, 2024) and Diamond Bars: The Street Version (Dimlights Publishing\, 2010). Romero has received honorariums from nearly a hundred colleges and universities in thirty-four different states in the USA and has also performed live in Mexico\, Italy\, and France. Romero’s work has been published in literary magazines in the United States\, Mexico\, England\, Scotland\, Canada\, and Hungary. Romero has opened for Latin Grammy winning bands Ozomatli and La Santa Cecilia. Romero’s work has been published in anthologies alongside poets laureate Joy Harjo\, Lawrence Ferlinghetti\, Luis J. Rodriguez\, Jack Hirschman\, and Tongo Eisen-Martin. Lara is a Xicana-Indigena mother\, Mexica dancer\, and Ethnic Studies-English Language Arts curriculum designer from Santa Ana\, CA. Her poetry has appeared in various publications including The American Poetry Review\, The Academic Journal for MALCS\, Mujeres de Maize Zine\, and Open Doors Poetry Anthology\, among others. She has published two chapbooks including “Xicanx Affirmations” published by Libromobile in 2018. His poetry has been published by the city of Anaheim in the “Anaheim Poetry Review\,” an anthology celebrating local voices. DESCRIPTION:Join us on August 1st at 6PM for ArtsWalk at The Cheech!  \n\n\n\nIn the Sala José Jaime Medina\, Aguatl of Milpa Music (@milpamusica) will be DJing all night. \n\n\n\nThen\, join us in our Education Classroom for Art Workshop with Mayra Zambrano (@mayras_artique) and Bee Cisneros (@dualityofbee)\, artists featured in Hogar Dulce Hogar. Hogar Dulce Hogar features 18 artists from the I.E. Each artwork expresses the meaning of “Hogar Dulce Hogar” or similar to “Home Sweet Home”. In this workshop\, hosted by Mayra Zambrano and Bee Cisneros\, we encourage participants to paint what that might mean for them. Participants will learn basic painting and color skills. Each canvas painted will then be collected by Mayra and Bee to be assembled into create a larger mosaic. This mosaic will depict the Riverside bell emblem as it is well known throughout our community! \n\n\n\nThis is a free\, family-friendly event! No tickets required!
