SUMMARY:Eclipse: What's your Perspective? - Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Anticipating their exhibition Eclipse: What’s Your Perspective? at the Riverside Art Museum\, Malik and Jonathan have much to reflect on. Their love for the city of San Bernardino led them to build a space of necessity\, perseverance\, and not taking no for an answer in the form of a photography studio @eclipsespaces \n\n\n\nJonathan: “We found ourselves in a renaissance of artists and businesses in San Bernardino and the IE in general. And I think that we started this with the intention of it being bigger than us.” – @323.raw \n\n\n\nMalik: “I really look at what this project’s brought out of me\, it’s really\, really essential to even the photographer I’m becoming. And I think I wouldn’t be the photographer I’ve really been chasing the entire time if I didn’t go through this\, because of the sense of Black community\, the sense of business\, and even how I’m navigating that world too.” – @maliklphoto \n\n\n\nSpecial Limited Risograph printed posters from flier artist Gabe Stein @707.creativeLimited Risograph printed posters will be available for free during the Eclipse: What’s Your Perspective? Reception.

SUMMARY:Electrolyte Printmaking Workshop Invitational Exhibition Opening
DESCRIPTION:In the summer of 2024\, master printer Bernard Hoyes led a three-day electrolyte etching workshop at the Riverside Art Museum. Six artists from the Inland Empire—Maurice Howard\, Lisa Loudin\, Adeola Davies\, Deborah McDuff\, Kayren Lyle\, and Ellen Finan—were invited to participate in the workshop\, which was funded by a California Creative Corps grant through the Inland Empire Community Foundation. \n\n\n\nUsing RAM’s printing presses\, Hoyes introduced participants to the environmentally conscious technique of electrolyte etching\, which uses saltwater and six volts of electricity (instead of toxic acids) to etch plates. Each of the participating artists curated and produced an edition\, which they then signed and numbered. \n\n\n\nThe final portfolio\, which is displayed here\, showcases each artist’s unique perspective on the themes of environment\, social justice\, and civic engagement. Their works not only reflect vital conversations taking place among contemporary artists in Inland California but also demonstrate how innovative processes can support environmental responsibility in artistic practice. By providing access to its two printing presses for this workshop\, RAM continues its role as a creative laboratory for working artists in the community. \n\n\n\nArtists featured: Maurice Howard\, Lisa Loudin\, Adeola Davies-Aiyeloja\, Deborah McDuff\, Kayren E. Lyle and Ellen Finan.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nImage courtesy of Maurice Howard\, Ancestor Freedom\, 2024.
