Let’s color outside the lines, draw upside down, and use our hands to paint. There is no right or wrong in this class. Make art in any way you can imagine.

Movements in Art History (Ages 10–17)

Explore different art movements throughout history! From prehistoric to contemporary art, students will be inspired by old and new artists, and create art with different mediums.

Pow! Boom! Pop! Let’s make some exciting, bright, and colorful art with an emphasis and inspiration from pop art! Students will have fun creating with different colors, art mediums, line work, and artists.

Self-Reflection and Mindfulness Week! (Ages 5–9)

Activities will focus on emotions, meditation, and appreciation with a cool and calm approach using an array of different art mediums. Children will have the opportunity to not only express their feelings with words, but with art!

Rockin’ on through Rockstar Week (Ages 10–17)

Discover mixed media materials while experiencing the world of a rockstar from designing your own album cover to creating your own merch for your rock band.

TEEN Procreate for Beginners (Ages 13–17)

Be introduced to the programs, basic tools, and brushes of Procreate on an iPad. Create thumbnails, prompt assignments, and simple painting techniques.

Life in the Sea (Ages 5–9)

Are you fascinated about what is under the water? Join us in an ocean-themed art class where we explore the known and the unknown. Using different techniques, students will create artwork of sea animals and ocean landscapes.

Explore the different aspects of animation. From creating characters to making breathtaking landscapes, students will learn something new each day.

Learn about line, shape, form, space, texture, and color. We’ll cover a range of drawing approaches, techniques, and materials.

In this class, different approaches to drawing will be introduced, including working with still life objects. Explore working with pencil and charcoal, while covering various aspects of working with line, tone, texture, and composition.

Art Inspired by Food (Ages 5–17)

What is something you cannot live without? Food! We as humans are obsessed with food. In this class, we are going to look at artists who were inspired by food and food around the world. Get ready for a fun-filled class where we stare at food and create art inspired by it.

Beyond drawing, painting, and printmaking lies mixed media, a wide-open combination of art forms that encompasses multiple art tools and materials.

Develop the ability to draw realistic images by exploring contour, line, positive and negative space, perspective, proportion, and shading via portraiture, chiaroscuro, landscape, etc.

Animals Great and Small (Ages 5–17)

This class combines our love of animals and art as we create collages, clay sculptures, and painting keepsakes using different mediums.

Art Through Children’s Literature   (Ages 5–9)

Interpret and visually imagine the same passage in a piece of literature in different ways.

Printmaking (Ages 10–17)

Forget computers and cameras, come in and learn and/or enhance your knowledge and skill in the original reproduction art form: printmaking. From monotype printing to collagraph, students will be making plates inspired by our LACMA exhibition that can be printed multiple times using a press.

Cartooning (Ages 5–17)

Learn how to draw and invent your own cartoon characters/stories. Students will design their 2-D characters and make their very own storylines.

Forts and Secret Hideaways (Ages 5–9)

Use various materials to create a secret hideaway inspired by The Cheech Marin Collection. Let your creativity expand beyond the canvas as you combine architecture, painting, sculpture, and more to create a one-of-a-kind experience for all those who enter.

Sculpture in Animation (Ages 10–17)

In animation, anything is possible. Let’s recreate our favorite 3-D animated characters or our own. Maquettes are great tools used in animation to see every angle of an object in 3-D.

TEEN Photography (Ages 13–17)

Students will learn about the history of photography, its cultural and historical significance, and about famous photographers. Students will be given a camera to use during this course. They will learn to take pictures of abstract art, architecture, landscape, nature, still life, and so much more. Students will be able to print their masterpieces and take them home.

Get inspired by strong women in art history! Learn about contemporary/influential Chicana/Latina artists and create an artwork inspired from their vibrant artwork.

The Art of Filmmaking (Teen)

Join us on our first ever film making class as a part of our summer week-long classes. Students will be instructed on how to make a one-to-two-minute short film in the span of a week. Lessons include learning how to build a story, shoot video, and edit on iMovie. Students will be leaving the class with their first short! (In this class students will use iPads provided by RAM. If students have their own, they are welcome to bring them.)

Learn to create whimsical, fanciful art inspired by the mixed-media sculptures in Collidoscope and also learn about Nahuals.
