Art Empowerment – Artists
(Ages 6-15)
Students will create artwork under a variety of themes using different materials. This class will explore BIPOC artists and create artwork based off of their art career. Students will be empowered to create their artwork that expresses their own personal style.

Painting Lab
(Ages 8-15)
This class will allow students to try all types of paint including watercolor, tempera, and acrylic. Techniques will be taught and beautiful masterpieces will be created!

Storybook Artist
(Ages 6-12)
Revisit and enjoy new storybook authors and their characters as we read and create art inspired by these beloved stories.

Chicana’s of the Cheech
(Ages 8-15)
This class will explore the women artists of The Cheech collection. We will be inspired by Patssi Valdez, Judithe Hernández, Cici Segura, Margaret Garcia and Yolanda Gonzalez.

Land of Milk and Honey
(Ages 8-15)
This newly opened exhibition is an arts and culture program focused on the ideological concept of agriculture in the regions of California and Mexico. This show uses different types of mediums including collage, painting and photography which students will make work inspired by.

Observation Drawing
Drawing what you see in front of you is great practice for any artist. This class will draw still life’s, architecture of The Cheech, gallery artwork, and other classmates.

Mixed Media
The sky is the limit with art materials in this fun mixed media class. Learn the elements of art through focused observation, questioning and group discussion of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works of art.

Marine Life Art
Marine Life is the plants and animals that live in the salt water of seas or oceans. We will explore marine life and make art inspired by our findings using a variety of materials. If you like sea creatures this class is for you!

Animals Architects
Amazing Animals who build their homes. In this class, you will learn about different animals and the habitats they live in from the smallest of animals to the biggest of animals.

Monday, March 20: Paint! Paint! Paint!
In this class, we will go over the basics of painting from color theory to creating value. We will use different paints, including tempera paint, watercolor, and acrylic paint on paper and on canvas.
Tuesday, March 21: Drawing Day!
This class will focus on the fundamentals of drawing. Students will learn basic techniques such as shading, tones, and composition, as well as drawing using graphite, charcoal, and more!
Wednesday, March 22: Mixed Media
Mixed media is an artwork in which more than one medium or material has been used. In this class, we will create artwork combining different mediums, including collaging with paint, oil pastels with watercolor, and sculpture with paint.
Thursday, March 23: Sculpture
Think 3D! Learn about creating sculptures with a variety of fun and unique materials including plaster wrap, recycled materials, wire, cardboard, air-dry clay, foam, and more.
Friday, March 24: Pastels
In this class, we’ll explore the basics of chalk and oil pastels. Then, we’ll create artwork using these skills.
