Scholarships are available from the following funds: Dottie Smith Scholarship Fund, Littleworth Scholarship Fund, Dorothy Blunden Scholarship Fund, Jacqueline M. Smith Memorial Fund, and Art Alliance Scholarship Fund.

Gallery Explorations (5-9)
Explore the galleries and get inspired by our current exhibitions to create inspired works of art. 

AM Class
Art History Exploration (10+)
Explore different art movements throughout history! From prehistoric –contemporary. Students will be inspired by new and old artists and create art with different mediums.

PM Class
Art Inspired by Science (5-9)
Students will learn about different sciences and create art inspired by a variety of fields.

Surrealism Art Week! (10+)
Investigate the bizarre works of Salvador Dali’s melting clocks, and Hannah Hoch’s human monsters.  Create and paint whimsical creatures and design your own surrealist collages. Question the definition of art, while pushing the boundaries of artistic self-expression.

 

Week of June 12 – 16

Forts and Secret Hideaways (5-9)
Use various materials to create a secret hideaway. Let your creativity expand beyond the canvas as you combine architecture, painting, sculpture, and more to create a one-of-a-kind experience for all those who enter.

Music through the Eras! (10+)
Discover mixed media materials while experiencing the world of music and the eras that have inspired many. If you enjoy different types of music, this class is for you.

Ocean Life (All ages)
Are you fascinated about what is under the water? Join us in an ocean themed art class where we explore the known and the unknown. Using different techniques, students will create artwork from sea animals to ocean landscapes. 


Week of June 19 – 23

Zoology Art (5-9)
This class combines the love of animals and art as we create collages, clay sculptures, and painting keepsakes using different mediums.

Paint, Twist, Sculpt (10+)
Explore, experiment, and create sculptures using clay, papier-mache, wire and much more. Construct beautiful artworks and amazing 3-D sculptures.

PM Class
Paint, Paint, Paint! (5-9)
Flowing, spontaneous, vibrant, paints have a mind of their own!  We will provide fun activities that will focus on the many uses of paints, different techniques, and provide ideas that will have a beautiful outcome!

Anime Experience (10+)
Explore the different aspects of animation. From creating characters to making breathtaking landscapes, students will learn something new each day.

Drawing Skills (5-9)
Learn about line, shape, form, space, texture, and color. We’ll cover a range of drawing approaches, techniques, and materials.

Drawing Techniques (10+)
In this class, different approaches to drawing will be introduced, including working with still life objects.  Explore working with pencil and charcoal, while covering various aspects of working with line, tone, texture, and composition.

Food Art (All ages)
What is something you cannot live without? Food! We as humans are obsessed with food. In this class, we are going to look at artists who were inspired by food and food from around the world. Get ready for a fun-filled class where we stare at food and create art inspired by it. .

From our smallest creatures to the biggest, this class combines our love of animals and art as we create collages, clay sculptures, and painting keepsakes using different mediums.

“Arte y Yo” (Spanglish fun) (5-9)
Works from Cheech’s collection: This class is for students who know and /or are interested in picking up some more Spanish, as well as some artistic skills. Students will hear the instructors in English and in Spanish.

Mixed Media (10+)
Beyond drawing, paint and printmaking, lies mixed media, a wide-open combination of art forms that encompasses multiple art tools and materials.

TEEN Drawing (13+)
Develop the ability to draw realistic images by exploring contour, line, positive and negative space, perspective, proportion, and shading via portraiture, chiaroscuro, landscape, etc.

PM Class
Cartooning (All Ages)
Learn how to draw and invent your own cartoon characters/stories.  Students will design their 2D characters and make their very own storylines.

 

Week of July 17 – 21

Fantasy (5-9)
Think of your favorite fantasy book, video game, movie or tv show and imagine all of the extraordinary characters and places that you can be inspired from. Using a variety of material this class will teach you how to create fantasy characters and landscapes.

Landscapes (10+)
Create beautiful artworks inspired by the beautiful outdoors! This class will focus on landscapes in multiple mediums including painting, drawing and collage. Inspired by the ocean, the sky, the desert and the city we will use the Elements of Art to create amazing landscapes.

The World Cultures through Art (All ages)
Explore art from around the world using a variety of mediums. We will view art from a new country daily and respond with our own art.

Learn about different techniques in clay while having fun creating pottery and sculptures.

TEEN Photography (13+)
Students will learn about the history of photography, its cultural and historical significance, and about famous photographers.  Students will be given a camera to use during this course at RAM.  They will learn to take pictures of Abstract art, architecture, landscape, nature, still life, and so much more.  Students will be able to print their masterpieces and take them home.

Young Illustrator (5-9)
Create your own illustrations from your favorite books, video games, etc. Students will learn about composition, gestures, color theory and much more in this class.

Animal Inspired Artworks (All Ages)
Animals have been a source of inspiration for many artists. Exploring different mediums and learning about animal habitats will help us grow as artists and care about animals and the environment. This class will make artworks on a large range of animals.

California Coast (All ages)
Explore California’s coast through a variety of drawing, painting, and mixed media techniques to create coastal-themed artworks.

Join us on our first ever film making class as a part of our summer week-long classes.  Students will be instructed how to make a 1-2 minute short film in the span of a week.  Lessons include learning how to build a story, shoot video, and edit on iMovie.  Students will be leaving the class with their first short!
(in this class students will use ipads provided by RAM, if students have their own, they are welcome to bring them in)

 

Week of June 19 -23

Beginning Printmaking (5-12)
From spreading ink, to applying found materials, students will use the printing press and see how prints are made. Students will explore different textures, colors and patterns.

Mixed Media (5-9)
Mixed media is an artwork in which more than one medium or material is used.  In this class, we will create artworks combining different mediums, including collaging with paint, oil pastels with watercolor, and sculpture with paint.
