Tuesdays (Livestream, 4 p.m.–5 p.m.)

One-hour virtual classes include a livestream lesson, fun worksheets (if needed to supplement the lesson), an interactive web portal (link will be emailed to you after you register and pay), and an Artist Tool Kit (includes all supplies needed for your registered session). Please pick up your kit the Friday before your session begins between 9 a.m. and noon at the Riverside Art Museum.

Livestream lessons are recorded and posted in the interactive web portal for that class if you miss it.

Prerequisites: You will need a gmail account to access our interactive web portal and Zoom for all livestream virtual classes.

Animal Inspired Artworks cancelled

Animals have been a source of inspiration for many artists. Exploring different mediums and learning about animal habitats will help us grow as artists and care about animals and the environment.This class will make artworks on a large range of animals.

September 7–October 5

Watercolor Painting for Beginners

This class will help artists learn about the wonderful world of watercolor. From brushstroke techniques, color theory, and creating texture and layers. This class will help those that have never used watercolor to those who want to build on their skills as watercolor painters.

Progressive Drawing–Beginning

Want to learn how to draw? Let’s start with the basics. This class will begin with value, mark making, contour drawing, and cross-contour drawing.

September 8–October 6

Progressive Drawing–Intermediate

This class will teach intermediate drawing skills, including shading, perspective, and grid drawing. Must complete Beginning Drawing to register.

October 13–November 10

Progressive Drawing–Advanced

Use your skills from the first two Progressive Drawing classes to create final artworks, including still lifes, landscapes, and portraits. Must complete Beginning and Intermediate Drawing to register.

Art Inspired by Food

What is something you cannot live without? Food! We as humans are obsessed with food. In this class, we are going to look at artists who were inspired by food and food around the world. Get ready for a fun-filled class where we stare at food and create art inspired by it.

3D Art on Paper

Create three-dimensional art on two-dimensional material! Students will learn different techniques to make their art pieces appear to pop out of the paper.

October 14–November 11

Comic Books

Students will learn how to create characters and have them interact with each other to make a mini comic book! We will traverse the world of comic books and be inspired to create our very own book.

Painting and Color Theory

This class will go over the basics of painting. Students will learn color mixing and color theory with tempera, acrylic, and watercolor paint.

Drawing 3D

Drawing an object to look three dimensional will elevate any student’s artwork! This class will help you learn how. We will draw optical illusions and learn about perspective and techniques using value to make your 2D artwork look 3D!

Animals Real or Imagined

Students will make artworks of animals using clay, paint, collage, and drawing. This class will allow students to explore different types of animals including their favorites and ones from their imagination.
