Donna Morin’s exhibition, part:counterPART,is a personal journey through oil paintings, prints, and collages, pairing framed paper works with canvases, with different times and viewpoints. Morin describes her work in this way: “The work is based on simple graphic shapes: the circle, square, and other geometric forms. The underlying structural principles of this work are informed by the formal tenets of 20th century Modernism. Yet it is a personal vocabulary, which includes more than an interest in pure abstraction. My works are the summation of a lifetime of knowledge and experience. They are about the complexity of composition, color, and form.”
A California-based artist for many decades, Donna Morin studied at Cal State San Bernardino and received her MFA from Claremont University. She has taught at various California colleges. Since retiring from teaching, she continues to work in her home studio. Morin’s work has been exhibited extensively, including at: the Ontario Art Museum; Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum, San Bernardino; L.A. Municipal Art Gallery; and at the Riverside Art Museum.
