5-class session: $175 (RAM Family Members and above $157.50) except week of July 2 (see below)

Add lunch-time supervision (12 noon – 1 p.m.): $35 (Student must bring own sack lunch.)

ALL students taking classes should bring a snack. There will be breaks during each session.


June 18 – 22

 

Morning Sessions, 9 a.m. – 12 noon

 

Sculpture and Paint, Ages 5 – 8 

Young artists will explore, experiment, and create sculptures using different materials, including: clay, papier-mâché, wood, and wire. Each student will learn techniques and basic skills in this class to construct beautiful artwork.

Printmaking, Ages 9 – 12
In this introduction to printmaking, you'll develop your drawing skills and explore a variety of printmaking processes, such as etching, linocut printing, rubber stamping, and mono-printing.

Teen Drawing From Life,  Ages 13 – 16 

Students will develop the ability to draw realistic images. Through a variety of challenging and fun lessons, students will explore contour, line, positive and negative space, perspective, proportion, and shading. Portraiture, chiaroscuro, and landscape are some of the lessons student will explore.

 

Afternoon Session, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

 

Paint/Twist/Sculpt, All Ages

Young artists will explore, experiment, and create sculptures using different materials, including: clay, papier-mâché, wood, and wire. Each student will learn techniques and basic skills in this class to construct beautiful artworks and amazing 3-D sculptures.


June 25 – 29

 

Morning Sessions, 9 a.m. – 12 noon

 

Dr. Frankenbook, Ages 5 – 8 

Make your favorite books come to life using clay, papier-mâché, and other art materials! Young artists will learn how to create three-dimensional art pieces inspired by two-dimensional books. Not only will they make the characters of the book, but the background too! By creating their favorite scenes, students will make stories lift up off the page. 

Fun with Fashion, Ages 9 – 12

This innovative class is all about creating a fashion clothing brand! Students will learn about logo design, discuss their ideal customer, and discover different ways to advertise and market. They will then design their own business cards, clothing collection, and a branded tote bag that they design and create. 

Teen Sculpture/Painting, Ages 13+

Explore forms in 3D using a variety of mediums, including wire, papier-mâché, mixed media, wood, and clay. Moving away from a 2D plan, students will create both abstract and representational sculptures that will be viewed in the round. In this class, students will learn about elements of 3D design, including form, line, texture, and color.

Drawing, All Ages

Join us in exploring the fundamentals of drawing as we work together to lay the foundations of art.Students will learn the fundamentals, such as line, shape, color, value, and texture.


July 2 – 6 (no class July 4)

Morning Sessions, 9 a.m. – 12 noon

 

Underwater Adventure, Ages 5 8

Students will create various underwater-related creations using watercolor techniques, including wet-on-wet, white oil pastel-resist, spray bottle, salt, splatter, and more.

Jungle Prints, Ages 9 – 12

Find out what’s hiding in the jungle! Students will create, using different mediums, their own imaginary jungle creatures and learn about real animals, plants, and insects that call this habitat their home.

Painting, Ages 13+

Aspiring painters will develop painting, color mixing, and compositional skills as they incorporate new techniques in their work. There will be projects including still life and landscapes. Each student will be able to bring home finished paintings and painting skills.

Archaeology Art – All ages

With our exhibit Uncovering Ancient Mexico: The Mystery of Tlatilco, we will learn about the artifacts, use our own “archaeological dig” here in the Taylor Family Gallery, and create works of art based off these beautiful artifacts using charcoal, paint, and clay.

 

July 9 – 13

 

Morning Sessions, 9 a.m. – 12 noon

 

Forts and Secret Hideaways, Ages 5 – 8 

From animals to secret agents, everyone needs a secret hideaway. Students will use many materials to create hidden spaces. They’ll create maps and drawings that they might need for a getaway. Let your creativity expand beyond the canvas as you design a secret hideaway from your imagination. You will combine elements such as architecture, painting, sculpture, bamboo, string, and more to create a one-of-a-kind experience for all those who enter. 

Nature’s Investigators, Ages 9 – 12

In this class, mixed-media projects will focus on different themes in nature. From bugs and bacteria to flowers and foliage, all of our planet’s most wondrous creations serve as inspiration. Projects range from painting and drawing to sculpture, collage, and printmaking.

Manga for Teens, Ages 13+

Love watching Anime and reading Manga? During the course of this class, students will turn their ideas into reality and learn the techniques to draw Manga characters and storylines. Join us and talk about nothing but our favorite Anime shows and Manga books!

Pirate Island, All Ages

Ahoy Maties! Kids will explore deserted islands, treasure chests, pirate ships, and more!


July 16 – 20

Art Through Children’s Literature, Ages 5 – 8

This class will allow our young artists to interpret and visually imagine the same passage in a piece of literature in different ways.

Cartooning, Ages 9 – 16 

In love with all things cartoons? Then join us to learn how to draw and invent your own characters. Students will design their 2D characters and make their very own storylines.

Painting Class, All Ages

Class for aspiring painters! Students will develop painting, color mixing, and compositional skills as they incorporate new techniques in their work. There will be projects including still life and landscapes. Each student will be able to bring home finished paintings and new painting skills.


July 23 – 27

 

Morning Sessions, 9 a.m. – 12 noon 


Printmaking, Ages 5 – 8
In this introduction to printmaking, you'll develop your drawing skills and explore a variety of printmaking processes, such as etching, linocut printing, rubber stamping, and mono-printing.

Mixed Media, Ages 9 – 12
Beyond drawing, painting, and printmaking lays mixed media, a wide-open combination of art forms that encompasses multiple art tools and materials.  Come ready to experiment.

Easel Painting, Ages 13+

This class provides a unique opportunity for our budding artists to learn to paint and draw at the easel! Students work from direct observation on both still life and portraits, while acquiring a strong foundation in painting techniques. Color mixing, paint application, proportions, and creating a balanced composition will all be covered. Time to see the museum’s diverse art on display are included for study and inspiration.

Spanish/English Artistic Fun  - All Ages

Esta clases es muy buena! This class is for students who know a little Spanish and are interested in picking up some more, as well as some new artistic skills. Students will hear the instructions in English and then immediately in Spanish. Study artists from around the country using different mediums.


July 30 – August 3

Art Around the World, All Ages 

Join us on an ARTventure around the world as we explore, China, Mexico, Greece, Tibet, and India. Create amazing art, learn about culture, sample cuisine, and listen to cultural music.

 

Afternoon Session, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Who doesn’t love an “artfully” messy project? Unique three-dimensional objects will be created using papier-mâché, wire, wood, and clay. Each student will learn techniques and basic skills to construct beautiful artwork.

August 6 - 10


Morning Session, 9 a.m. – 12 noon

 

Puppet Theatre, Ages 5 – 8

Imagine creating a character of your own design, then bringing that character to life before friends and family. Students will use their creativity to create a puppet using a wide selection of materials to give their puppet a unique character. They will also create a storyline as a class, then put on a show the last day of class!

Bringing the Beach to Riverside, All Ages

Sand paintings, fish rubbings, seascapes, watercolor paintings, and more! Students will create beach-inspired pieces of art.
