Summer 2021 Youth Art Classes and Workshops


On-site weeklong class: $175 (RAM Family level members and above: $157.50) | Ages 6–15 | Classes are three hours | All art materials supplied during class

*July 6–9: On-site weeklong (4 days) class: $140 (RAM Family level members and above: $126)


NOTE: Each class is limited to 10 students. All students should bring snacks; there will be breaks during class.


Add lunch-time supervision: $50 | Noon–1 p.m. | Students MUST bring own sack lunch.

Morning Weeklong Classes 

Art of Asia (Class is full. Thank you.)

9 a.m.–noon

Get the chance to traverse Asia and discover different countries’ cultures and art. Students will create art inspired by South Korean artist Shin Kwang Ho, Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, and many more artists throughout Asia.  

Afternoon Weeklong Class 

Ins and Outs of Clay (Class is full. Thank you.)

1 p.m.–4 p.m.

Students will learn the ins and outs of working with different types of clay to create unique objects. Students will work with polymer clay and learn that when baked in an oven, it hardens to a solid state. They will also work with air-dry clay. Projects will be embellished with beads and painted to perfection.

Morning Weeklong Classes

Abstract Art

9 a.m.–noon

Learn about the abstract art movement and create non-representative artwork inspired by artists like Hilma af Klint, Alma Thomas, and Edward Clark. 

Afternoon Weeklong Class

Pop Art (Class is full. Thank you.)

1 p.m.–4 p.m.

We will learn about Pop Art, a fun art movement that emerged from the United Kingdom and the United States in the 1950s. We will create art inspired by advertising and comic books!

June 28–July 2

 

Morning Weeklong Classes 

Animation Drawing (Class is full. Thank you.)

9 a.m.–noon

Students will get a chance to enhance their skills in animation drawing. In this class, we will learn about Japanese- and American-style animation, and students will get to create and animate characters they create.

Afternoon Weeklong Class

Fashion (Class is full. Thank you.)

1 p.m.–4 p.m.

We will start by drawing fashion mannequins and models so that we have a base to draw our fashion sketches on. Step into the shoes of a fashion magazine editor as you design and draw eye-catching pages for your own fashion magazine. Create your own fashion designs using some sewing techniques.

9 a.m.–noon

Art and science go hand-in-hand. Create art using science and art inspired by different science fields. Come and join in if you love botany, earth science, zoology, astronomy, and more.

Afternoon Weeklong Classes

Mixed Media (Class is full. Thank you.)

1 p.m.–4 p.m.

Beyond drawing, painting, and printmaking lies mixed media, a wide-open combination of art forms that encompasses multiple art tools and materials.

July 12–16

 

Morning Weeklong Classes

Collage

9 a.m.–noon

Explore the world of collaging. By using different collaging materials, students will recreate landscapes, animals, people, and much more in this art class.

Afternoon Weeklong Classes

1 p.m.–4 p.m.

Explore and experiment with 3D art making. Students will create sculptures using a variety of materials.

July 19–23

 

Morning Weeklong Classes

Progressive Drawing (Class is full. Thank you.)

9 a.m.–noon

In this class, students will be strengthening their drawing skills. From shading to perspective to drawing bodies, we will go over different topics and techniques.

Afternoon Weeklong Classes 

Construction Paper Creations

We will make collages and sculptures while exploring how to use construction paper in different ways.

Morning Weeklong Classes 

Fantasy Art Class

9 a.m.–noon

Explore new lands, creatures, and beings in this art class. Students will have the opportunity to create a new reality while learning how to create animals, people, and other fantastical things. Your only limitation is your own imagination!

Afternoon Weeklong Classes

Disney Designs

1 p.m.–4 p.m.

Create artwork featuring (super)heroes and other memorable characters in the Disney style using a variety of materials.

Zoology

9 a.m.–noon

This class combines our love of animals and art as we craft extraordinary pieces of artwork. Students will create collages, drawings, and painting keepsakes using different mediums.

Afternoon Weeklong Classes

Forts & Secret Hideaways (Class is full. Thank you.)

1 p.m.–4 p.m.

From animals to secret agents, everyone needs a secret hideaway. Students will use various materials to create hidden spaces. They will build forts and create a street and decorations that go with the theme, all while having loads of fun!
